*We indeed live in the same world but different level*
Two accountants had access to 1 million Naira monthly. This is their expenses and spending on a spreadsheet.
Accountant A
Family Expenses: 200,000.
Accountant B
Family expense:
100,000.
Acct A:
Loans repayment, 200k
Acct B:
Stocks and bonds, 400k
Acct A, Cooperative: 200k.
Acct B
Entertainment, 200k
Acct A, Savings, 100k
Acct B, Flashy lifestyle 300k.
A&B
House project
300,000.
Total: 1,000,000 Total:1,000,000
Both continued with the same spending attitude for many years, not before long:
Accountant A was able to complete his house, repay his loans and set up a viable business for his wife.
Account B was spending money on his frivolities without any visible financial backup or investment although he was not poor.
One day both of them were sacked from their Job and paid a 25 million severance package.
When they met again at the end of 5 years, accountant A had put the money into a business and it had grown to 35 million. His network was about 50 million.
While Accountant B's net worth was around 400,000 million.
"How did you do it? He asked.
Accountant B said "My family is into old money, my father was a retired CBN director with landed properties and investments all over the country, and his grandfather was a wealthy trade merchant in his days, it was old money that flowed down the line, all my siblings are residents abroad and do send money to me regularly, I have over 4 inherited properties that bring millions in income monthly and lastly, I am the only son of my parents and a direct inheritor of my grandfather's wealth.
I was the last child who was brought up in plenty and affluence.
My money then was going into stock and fixed deposit.
I wasn’t working to make money but just loved accounting. I wasn't doing the family business because I wanted to be my own man. The one million Naira earned was nothing to me.
You see, some people had cleared my path and planted the trees, and I was only eating and enjoying the fruits. My children are in a family trust fund set up by my grandfather that caters to their needs and education.
Accountant A said, "Thank God I never copied or compared myself with you, I thought then you were wasting money".
My parents were retired teachers who struggled to educate me, I grew up in lack and poverty, which reinforce my spending beliefs and prudence. I have a lot of people who depend on me to survive and once I fail they are all doomed. That was why I was so cautious in my spending.
We indeed live in the same world but on different levels.
I remember while I was at the University, I used to have a friend who spends monthly what I spend the whole semester we are best friends and sit in the same class to receive lectures.
The best path in life journey is never to compare yourself with anyone, while it is you who is toiling, clearing the path for your generation, some are fortunate to have their palm kernels cracked for them by their background, and family ties.
I have a friend who has direct contact with the governor of his state, if am to see my own directly, I go write letter tire, it was someone who opened the door for him.
In life, the fastest track to unhappiness is when you work with another man's time and vision. It’s a recipe for misery. You will never be focused.
Run your race.
Water your garden.
If your papa no chop remain and you're on your own like the accountant A, utilize your resources, clear your own path, and remain focussed.
Happy night rest everyone &God bless
