Tirta Empul Temple
Tirta Empul is a Hindu temple located in the village of Tampaksiring, Gianyar regency, Bali, Indonesia. The temple is famous for its holy spring water, which is believed to have healing properties and is used in purification ceremonies.
The name Tirta Empul means "holy water spring" in Balinese. The temple was built in 962 AD during the Warmadewa dynasty, and has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years. The temple complex consists of three main sections, namely the Jaba Pura (outer courtyard), Jaba Tengah (middle courtyard), and Jeroan (inner courtyard).
The holy spring water at Tirta Empul is sourced from a natural spring located within the temple complex.
